Natural Lullabies was built on the foundation of a true understanding of motherhood. Because of this, we are alway searching for ways to create support and make the mothering transition easier. Melissa is now offering a new Mindful Yoga class that includes new Mothers and Babies at Nirvana Body and Soul (see location details below). There are hundreds of ways to do yoga and different intentions for yoga classes. This hatha yoga class intends to provide students the opportunity to use yoga postures and breathing in a meditative way to increase our body awareness while creating more inner peace. The class is open to EVERYONE, not just new mothers, but is welcoming of new mothers with babies (pre-walking). This class is great for beginners of yoga but has the intention to push all of the students into a new place of mindfulness.

Mindful Yoga FAQ
1. What will I do with my baby during class?
Babies are welcome to come to class with you. We do this because we know how hard it can be to take a yoga class after you have a new baby. Not all mother's are comfortable leaving young babies behind, so we say "Bring your baby with you." During the class, babies can lay on the floor next to you on a blanket, sit in their car seat carriers, or you can hold them or nurse them whenever you need to. Please know that yoga with a baby can be a bit harder to manage but it can also be better than no yoga at all. Somedays the babies will lay quietly and nap in their car seats while other days may not go as well. As with all endeavors with children, be flexible and embrace the fact that you never know how it will go but find peace in all outcomes.
2. I have never taken a Yoga Class before and I'm wondering if I will be able to do it.
The class will be appropriate for all levels of students, whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi. Mindful Yoga classes will be focusing on our mind and awareness as well as our bodies, so come prepared to work on all areas of yourself!
3. When can I begin exercising after having a baby?
Typically, Doctors and Midwives release new mothers around 6 weeks postpartum. However, you should check with your healthcare provider prior to attending any class or starting a new fitness routine. |
